Sheshdar forest area can be considered as a tourist area and places of interest in Ilam, which is located 5 km from Ilam city, and near Qalaqiran mountain (on the way from Ilam to Kermanshah). Sheshdar forest area, also known as “Sheshdar forest park”, has a completely untouched and natural nature, and has a spectacular and pristine view.

It is not surprising that ancient myths and legends are not limited to literature, and retain their influence in various aspects of a nation’s life. In the Kooshak strait area of the Zarneh section of the city of Ivan, there is a building that, according to local legends, was built by Farhad in the middle of the day for a sweet night’s rest.
The elders know it as Shirin arch, but it is generally called Taq Shirin and Farhad. This building is a stone arch located at the foot of the mountain, and belongs to the Sassanid period. In its construction, large carved stones have been used, which have been placed in a row without mortar. But the most unique feature in its architecture is the vaulted roof, which is made flat instead of crescent-shaped. No building can carry an ancient myth without having a special feature.
One of the most important historical monuments and tourist attractions of Ilam can be considered the Wali castle. This fort was built by the order of “Gholamreza Khan Wali” in a neighborood called “Hossein Abad Fili” which is called “Deh Bala”.
The area of this castle is about 4687 square meters, and the infrastructure of its building is approximately 1464 square meters. The materials used in the construction of this historic castle include stone, brick, tile, plaster and wood and are highly durable. Wali Castle was renovated from 1988 to 1990 and the Anthropological Museum of Ilam was built in 2006.
The Anthropological Museum can be considered as one of the most crucial and historical tourist places in Ilam, which has many fans, and is visited by many tourists. Mellat Park can be considered as one of the oldest and most beautiful parks in Ilam, which is located on Jomhuri Boulevard in Ilam. Mellat Park, also known as “Sarab Park”, has more than 150 beautiful and towering old trees and benefits from the existence of flowing water atmospheres.
This park has a very pleasant and relaxing nature, and is welcomed by many travelers and tourists. The best season to spend time and enjoy in Mellat Park is summer.
Kabirkuh is the largest and most important mountain range in Ilam province and consists of high mountain ranges that are part of the great Zagros mountain range. This mountain range extends in a northwest-southeast direction. Kabirkuh is one of the rainy, green and watery areas in the mountainous region of Zagros.
The Kabirkuh protected area covers an area of about 1665 hectares, where various species of animals such as wolves, goats, bears, leopards, rams, ewes and deer live.
Around this area, there are two roads, Ilam-Darehshahr and Darehshahr-Abdanan. This area is a good destination for nature tourism, which of course needs to be introduced more, as well as creating suitable facilities and organizing for the presence of tourists.
